Implementation of PBS XML v3
Page last updated: 17 March 2017
The Department is currently working on a major system upgrade to implement PBS Extensible Mark-up Language Version 3 (XML v3). PBS XML v3 will provide a more flexible approach for the distribution of information amongst stakeholders and aligns with the Government’s Digital Health agenda.
The implementation of PBS XML v3 was originally planned to align with the April 2017 Schedule. This target has been delayed and a new date will be advised prior to 30 June 2017.
Implementation of the PBS XML v3 will provide consumers with the option of utilising either the new PBS XML v3 file or a modified (down-conversion) file that replicates the existing XML v2. The XML v2 down-conversion file will be made available by the Department for a transition period of 12 months while consumers implement changes to their own systems to consume XML v3.
